Common Means of Collaboration

The Creating lots of quality content with no means of distribution is a horrible waste of effort. But efforts are being made to make sure that does not happen. I have seen a few projects that have websites that you can visit and download their work. The best of these that I have seen is the Bible Technologies Group website. They have OSIS formatted documents available for download, as well as a collection of thoughts on tools that need to be created and, of course, the OSIS standards themselves.

Much more can be done. One thing that would be very useful would be for content producers to let their content be distributed via web services to be consumed by website and application developers. Of course, this is in itself a huge topic and another essay regarding this next step will be written soon. But in brief, the use of xml web services would allow the community to easily aggregate data developed by different projects in a cross-platform manner. This would allow all of our data that we collect to become much more usable more quickly.

Conclusion

Biblical studies has made some progress in the last few years in the matters of online and collaborative biblical studies effort. But more needs to done. More of the community needs to get involved. Lexel Software is committed to seeing this work go forward, and hope that more will join in with us for the same purpose.
